Find out moreBBA-certified and lead-free, this Wakaflex® Light Grey Alternative Lead Flashing makes a great replacement for lead in most modern roofing applications. It is a flexible, adhesive flashing that can be quickly and easily installed, boasting a non-toxic and lightweight material perfect for those working in the construction industry.
Perfect for a range of applications, including chimneys, all abutments at walls and rising parts of structures such as dormers, this flashing offers high stretchability in both directions of the material and features a unique product composition with a self-welding effect. It is suited to a maximum roof pitch of 90° and a minimum the same as that of the tile. This flashing is also suited for use as saddles, ridge/wall junctions, fixing around roof outlets or with Wakaflex®'s top edge abutment ventilator.
During installation, it is important that Wakaflex® lays on dry, dust and oil-free surfaces and all laps are no less than 50mm for a secure fit. You can apply added pressure with a roller. To ensure seamless integration into brickwork, turn into joints or chase in by at least 30mm and use a reliable sealant to seal larger or uneven joints after creating a welt at the back. To keep the flashing in place, use folded strips of Wakaflex® as wedges into brickwork before sealing with a trusted sealant.
At top edge abutments, cover slates by a minimum of 150mm using Wakaflex® and turn up the wall by 75mm. Fix in brickwork joints. At mansards, extend over slates on the lower roof by 150mm at least. Fit a lay board and tilting fillet to the upper roof, extending the flashing 150 - 200mm up the slope and forming a 30mm welt at the top. You can then nail it into place at the top at approximately 150mm centres.
