With thicknesses between 6mm to 8mm and rust-free supplier warranties, Del Carmen slates are approved by English Heritage and Heritage Scotland as a substitute for Welsh slate, known for their exceptional quality and consistency. These slates are sourced exclusively from the Del Carmen quarry in Spain and certified for use in Snowdonia National Park.

These Celtas-grade slates are carefully extracted from a single uniform slate vein at the Del Carmen quarry. What sets this natural roofing material apart is its unparalleled finish and suitability for harsh weather conditions. With low water absorption and high strength, Del Carmen slate includes a riven texture and variation in thickness for on-site sorting.

This slate has undergone rigorous testing according to BS EN 12326 and holds high certification in the UK, France, and the US. Del Carmen ultra-grade slates have accomplished the A1-T1-S1 classification and are backed by a 50-year guarantee from supplier SSQ, with a lifespan of more than 50 years. As a result, it lasts double the time of other roofing tiles. This longevity contributes to its sustainability alongside less CO2 emission due to the absence of synthesis and extensive processing.

Please note:

  • Our slates are typically delivered on a six-wheeled lorry (11m long and 2.4m wide) with a tail-lift facility to offload on solid, level ground with a pump truck. Non-compliance to delivery restrictions may result in additional delivery charges. Should you specifically require a crane or small vehicle offload, please notify us at the time of placing the order, as an additional charge may be incurred. Please allow 5% extra in the ordered quantity to cover acceptable breakage in transporting natural slate products.
