Find out moreSuitable for use on roof pitches as low as 12°, this innovative 3-metre Easy Verge Continuous System offers a dry verge continuous soaker solution for slates. Transforming traditional roofing methods, it ensures a sleek, resilient finish.
For centuries, slates have been favoured in roofing due to their water-resistant properties. However, during installation on the roof verge, a problematic gap beneath the slates is caused by the batten. The common practice of using cement mortar to create a 'pointed verge' often leads to roof failure. The mortar fails to adhere completely to the slates, allowing water to seep in and cause havoc. With each rain and gust of wind, the exposed roof verge becomes saturated, affecting the mortar's appearance and performance. Water infiltrates through the non-adhered gap, causing the roofing batten to rot, compromising the stability of the slate fixings. Consequently, slates can come loose and fall off the roof, posing a major risk.
To address these issues and comply with roofing standards set by insurance companies like NHBC, traditional cement mortar is no longer recommended. Existing dry verge systems aren't entirely satisfactory either, as they often allow water to permeate through the top, leading to premature rotting of the battens. They are also burdensome and not sympathetic to traditional roofing methods.
This Easy Verge solution is the only dry verge system that replicates the aesthetics of a traditional pointed verge while offering exceptional performance. Its patented super seals guarantee no water will creep back under the slates or through the verge, thus protecting the battens from rot. Moreover, its unique design accommodates a traditional cambered or 'Celtic' edge, preserving the authentic look of your roof. Featuring an adjustable undercloak, ranging from 0mm to 100mm, it ensures a flawless and straight verge every time with minimal effort. With a quick and easy installation, it provides overall cost savings.
