Find out moreAn innovative side lap strip designed to seal the perp join on slate roofs, the patented Easy Slate stops water from penetrating the slate layers. By incorporating Easy Slate into the roof design, the head lap is extended from the upper slate's tail to the head of the slate beneath it. For example, when using 500mm x 250mm slates with a 100mm lap, the result is a securely sealed perp join and an increased effective head lap of 300mm.
Traditional slate roofs often have minimal or no gaps (less than 0.5mm) between slate layers. With the lack of gap, water is drawn by air pressure between the slates through capillary action, a common cause of leaks. Easy Slate addresses this issue and elevates the slates by 1mm, forming a more significant gap that lets air freely move beneath the slates. As a result, it releases air pressure and, in turn, eliminates capillary action and wind slate rattle. It also clears condensation passing through the Breather Membrane and negates the need for a counter batten.
The increased head lap and absence of capillary action enhance weather resistance. This enables the installation of slates on complex, exposed, or low-pitched roofs that were inappropriate before. Easy Slate is designed for exceptional versatility and longevity. When utilised as part of the Easy Roof System, it comes with an impressive 40-year guarantee, assuring long-lasting performance and peace of mind.
