Can the grill be removed after the vent has been installed? I would like to be able to inspect the back box occassionaly to remove any dirt or debris that comes off the roof and may get through the grill.

It looks like this should be fitted when roof is being slated. Can it be retrofitted without stripping slates up to ridge or have you anything similar that can be installed simply? Many thanks
Answer:
You would need to take a few Slates off around where you are fitting then dress them back in, a roofer should be able to do this with minimal disruption. If you wanted something a lot quicker though search for 'Economy Slate Vent' on the site, those ones only offer passive ventilation but can be easily slid into place once the slate you are replacing is removed.
