Find out moreAn affordable substitute for natural slate, these Marley Edgemere Interlocking Slate Concrete Roof Tiles can be purchased in different colours to form elegant appearances alongside their 18mm thin leading edges. Being that they are 40% thinner than standard interlocking tiles, they deliver pleasing kerb appeal.
These tiles have a coverage of 9.7 tiles per m² at a 75mm headlap and 10.5 tiles per m² at a 100mm headlap and utilise a broken-bond laying method, speeding up installations. Edgemere is a versatile roof solution that is compatible with various applications and suited to pitches from 90° down to 17.5°. Concrete interlocking tiles can be easily installed to replace standard plain tiles with a contemporary alternative due to their smooth appearance and low environmental impact.
With a nominal thickness of 18mm, you can fasten these tiles with the recommended 45mm x 3.35mm nails, while still retaining peak performance with a minimum roof headlap of 75mm (22.5° above) or 100mm (below 22.5°) and a maximum roof gauge of 345mm. You can obtain a net roof covering capacity of 9.7 tiles per square metre at a 75mm headlap or 10.5 tiles per square metre at a 100mm headlap. At a 75mm headlap, the approximate weight of the tiling is 44kg/m² (0.43kN/m²), whereas, with a 100mm headlap, it is 47.5kg/m² (0.47kN/m²).
Per net roof, you will need 2.9 linear metres of battens per square metre at a 75mm headlap or 3.1 linear metres at a 100mm headlap. It is advisable to use 38mm x 25mm battens (in compliance with BS 5534) when the rafter/support distances do not exceed 450mm centres. If you have larger rafter/support intervals that do not exceed 600mm centres, you can opt for 50mm x 25mm battens (also compliant with BS 5534).
Question:
Hi, can you tell me the batten spaces for a 20 degree roof. So I can batten it before the tiles come through?
Answer:
Battens required (net, roof):
2.9 lin.m/m2 at 75mm headlap
3.1 lin.m/m2 at 100mm headlap
Batten size recommended:
38mm x 25mm for rafters/supports not exceeding 450mm centres (fixed to BS 5534)
50mm x 25mm for rafters/supports not exceeding 600mm centres (fixed to BS 5534)
