Find out moreAs a lightweight alternative to natural slate without the risk of breaking or cracking, these Guardian Synthetic Slates are available in five natural colours which have been tested to withstand high UV exposure, exhibiting almost no fading. You can rest assured that they will not crack or split.
Made at a lower cost compared to traditional slate, these Guardian slates are also 60% lighter and 100% recyclable at the end of their use. Constructed from resin-bonded crushed limestone with consistent dimensional accuracy and high quality, they come pre-marked with convenient fixing guides, ensuring a quick and easy installation process.
Before use, these slates must be stored above 7°C for 24 hours. They can be installed at 0°C but must be hand fastened. You can cut them with various tools, including a fine-toothed handsaw, jigsaw, circular saw or sharp utility blade. For a secure installation, you will require a 12mm roofing board or standard roofing batten and two 30mm x 4mm head stainless steel screws to fix each slate. Each slate will have a nominal weight of 0.675kg, with a total of 14.85kg per pack of 22 slates.
These slates are suitable for use on roof pitches from 14° up to 90°. Between 14° and 22.5°, they must be boarded only with a 152mm gauge and 22 slates per m². For 22.5° pitches and above they can be installed with boards or battens. From 22.5° up to 25°, the gauge should be 152mm with 22 slates per m². From 25° up to 27.5°, a 165mm gauge with 20 slates per m² is required. Between 27.5° and 30° the gauge will be 178mm with 19 slates per m², while above 30° will require a 191mm gauge with 18 slates per m².
