Find out moreWith water-based paint coatings and a uniform angled crested design, this glass-fibre reinforced concrete (GRC) 450mm Roll Top Crested Angle Ridge comes in a range of colours and angles. It is both a durable and economical choice for your domestic roofing projects, including repairs or ground-up installations, and the cement-based materials are reinforced with glass fibres while containing Portland cement, sand, glass fibres and pigment.
When making wet-fix installations, first locate the top course of special short slates designed for proper ridge cover. Place socketed ridge tiles in a way that the overlapping sockets face away from the prevailing weather conditions. Bed all ridges securely in a mortar with strong bonding of joints and use a mortar mix consisting of three parts sharp sand and one part Portland cement for neat bedding. Additionally, apply a proprietary bonding agent mixed with cement on the underside of the ridge for improved bonding.
Follow the guidelines outlined in BS 5534 Part 1 (2003) and adhere to current codes of practice when applying additional mechanical fixings, then neatly and firmly bed the end of the end ridge tile. When dealing with hips, attach a suitable hip iron to the base of the hip rafter if required. Align the bottom hip tile with the eaves, cut it if necessary, and complete bedding and pointing. Be mindful of the weather and avoid applying mortar in cold, wet, or very warm conditions.
