Find out moreThis glass-fibre reinforced concrete (GRC) 450mm 3 Hole Crested Ridge is a strong, durable, and economical option for numerous domestic roofing projects. For both repairs and ground-up installations, its cement-based material is reinforced with glass fibres and is made up of Portland cement, sand, glass fibres and pigment.
Available in different colours and coated in water-based paint, the crested ridge is durable and highly uniform with a 3-hole design and a 90° angle.
When wet-fixing, start by locating the top course of special short slates for proper ridge cover. Position socketed ridge tiles with overlapping sockets away from prevailing weather. Edge bed all ridges in mortar, ensuring solid bedding of joints, then finish bedding and pointing tidily, using three parts sharp sand and one part Portland cement for mortar. Apply a proprietary bonding agent mixed with cement to the underside of the ridge for enhanced bonding. Any other mechanical fixings should be added as needed following BS 5534 Part 1 (2003) and current codes of practice, then neatly solid bed the end of the end ridge tile.
For hips, fix a suitable hip iron into the base of the hip rafter where required. Align bottom hip tile with eaves, cut if necessary, and finish bedding and pointing neatly. Avoid applying mortar in cold, wet, or very warm conditions.
