Find out moreThis FAKRO flashing has been designed specifically for use with standard 55 x 78cm FAKRO conservation windows on slate roofs, where the window is going to be recessed so that it sits within the roofline.
The FAKRO flashing can be used with any slate products that are up to 10mm thick. Slates that are suitable for use with the FAKRO conservation flashing include a number of natural slates, fibre cement slate products and more.
The flashing is manufactured from aluminium, which allows malleability around tiles and the roof window. The flashing also features flexible insulating material to reduce heat loss, and is then coated with a polyester covering to maximise durability. The flashing is then finished in black (RAL9005), creating a subtle finish which tends to fit in with most roof colourings.
FAKRO conservation roof windows are roof windows that have been designed specifically for conservation areas and buildings with more complex planning restrictions. The FAKRO conservation windows are designed in such a way that they will pass the planning restrictions where a regular FAKRO roof window may fail.
A conservation roof window from FAKRO features black cladding, and a single vertical black bar that runs down the centre of the window pane. The black bar and black cladding not only make it more suitable for traditional construction, but also help to minimise the visual impact that the conservation window has from the outside of the building, ensuring it is more in keeping with more historic properties.
Flashings are an integral part of the installation of a FAKRO window, and although often disregarded, are incredibly important.
Flashings are used to create a tight connection between the roof window and the roof slates, ensuring that the window is fitted accurately, creating a neat finish.
However, the FAKRO flashing is not just used for visual effect, the flashing is also used to protect the window from weather conditions, creating efficient rainwater drainage with the ridged design, and preventing water entry at the points where the window connects to the roof.
By installing FAKRO flashings on your slate roof, you are eliminating the potential for water to penetrate the roof, which prevents damp, condensation and structural issues from occurring over time. FAKRO flashings also help to increase the lifespan of the roof and the conservation roof window.
