This FAKRO flashing has been designed specifically for the installation of FAKRO Duet proSky conservation windows on a slate roof.
This FAKRO flashing can be used with slate products that are up to 10mm thick, including but not limited to, natural slate from Redland, fibre cement slate products from Marley, including Rivendale and Thrutone, Britslate from Sandtoft, and more.
The flashing is manufactured from aluminium, which allows malleability around slate and the roof window. The flashing is then coated with a polyester covering to maximise durability. The flashing is finished in black (RAL 9005), which matches the conservation window.
A proSky FAKRO window is a centre pivot window, but is taller than a standard roof window, and the pivot is located higher up the window frame. This means that the window opens at a higher position than a standard roof window, allowing for higher head clearance.
The Duet proSky window consists of a FAKRO proSky window, with a second non-opening window pane situated beneath, within the same frame.
Conservation windows are manufactured by FAKRO specifically for buildings and homes that are situated in conservation areas. The FAKRO conservation windows are designed in a way that will meet a number of planning restrictions in situations where regular FAKRO roof windows would not pass the planning stages.
The Duet proSky flashing has been designed for use specifically with this FAKRO Duet proSky conservation window.
Flashings are an integral part of the installation of a FAKRO window, and although often disregarded, are incredibly important.
Flashings are used to create a tight connection between the proSky Duet window and the roof tiles, ensuring that the window is fitted accurately, creating a neat finish.
However, the FAKRO flashing is not just used for visual effect, the flashing is also used to protect the window from weather conditions, creating efficient rainwater drainage with the ridged design, and preventing water entry at the points where the window connects to the roof.
By installing FAKRO flashings on your tiled roof, you are eliminating the potential for water to penetrate the roof, which prevents damp, condensation and structural issues from occurring over time. FAKRO flashings also help to increase the lifespan of the roof and the conservation roof window.
