Description

Available in a 2.5-litre tin, this Black Jack Bitumen Roof Felt Adhesive is a cold-applied, oxidised bitumen-based adhesive. It is an ideal option for bonding all types of roofing felt to a wide range of surfaces, including metal, concrete and timber.

This roof felt adhesive is also fantastic for sealing felt laps and for use as a cold gritting solution for bonding mineral chippings.

Please note:

  • This is an alternative to the Aquaseal fast-drying roof waterproofer.
  • No roof-coating product can be expected to repair an existing roof that is not structurally stable or sound. Before using this surface coating, the roof structure should be inspected and, if needed, fixed. All missing, slipped, broken or cracked sheets, tiles, slates or other forms of covering should be re-fixed or replaced and cracks in asphalt or felt filled.
  • Do not coat windows, rooflights, glass or translucent sheets. These will constitute a hidden hazard if disguised.
  • This Black Jack all-weather roof coating contains a flammable solvent and all normal precautions against fire must be taken throughout storage and use. Store it in its original container in cool dry conditions and keep it away from sources of ignition.
  • If you plan to place a large order of this product, please note that it will be sourced directly from the supplier. As a result, there will be an extended lead time of 10-12 days. Hi, I see 2 different coverages quoted in the Q&As, one of 0.7l per m2, and one of 0.7m2 per litre, so for a 7.5m2 roof either 5.25 litres or 10.72 litres. Please can you advise which is correct for standard use as a felt adhesive, not gritting. Thanks

Apologies for the error, the correct coverage is the rates below.

As a roof felt adhesive: 0.6 – 0.8 litres per square metre

As a gritting adhesive: 3mm chips: 0.7 litres per square metre

 10mm chips: 0.9 litres per square metre

Will Black jack roofing adhesive be suitable to stick the edges of EPDM to an existing felt roof?

Answer:

It would not I am afraid, you would need to use a termination bar with water stop underneath it to create a join between the EPDM and the felt.
