Made of fibre cement, these roof tiles have a smooth surface and dressed edges for an appearance like traditional slate tiles, alongside a mix of colour, edge finish and design flexibility. As a result, these tiles are ideal for roofing and cladding solutions across various projects, specifically in the Tally Ho training centre in Birmingham and the Holcombe Moor Army base near Bury.
These tiles are suited to a maximum pitch of 90°, a minimum pitch of 22.5° in areas of moderate exposure and 25° in areas of severe exposure at 100mm lap, and a minimum pitch of 20° in areas of moderate exposure and 22.5° in areas of severe exposure at 110mm lap.
These tiles are easily installed with 30mm x 2.65mm slate nails (copper to BS1202-2) and copper disc rivets. For rafters/supports that don't surpass 450mm centres, batten sizes of 38 x 25mm are recommended while batten sizes of 50 x 25mm are recommended for rafters/supports that don't surpass 600mm centres. At 100mm lap, the amount of battens required (net) is 4.00 linear metres per m² and 4.08 linear metres per m² at 110mm lap.
The average bending moment of over 50Nm/m (Class B) is achieved by fibre cement slates, ensuring they meet the strength criteria outlined in BS EN 492. Furthermore, these slates possess a nominal thickness of 4mm and a minimum density of 1700kg/m³.
