Find out moreWith a Blue/Black finish and 600mm x 300mm size, this Rivendale slate features a stunning riven surface and a dressed edge, perfectly combining modern slate technology with the classic appeal of natural slate. It is the ideal choice when you want an authentic and organic aesthetic.
Renowned for its sustainability and eco-friendly qualities, this Rivendale slate has been chosen for prestigious projects, such as Hawkshaw Lodge by Cambrian Homes, based in a green belt conservation area near Bury, and the Altrieswood Development by Churchill Homes in Scotland. Additionally, it holds the distinction of achieving an outstanding A+ rating, as defined in the BRE's Green Guide to Specification. With a minimum density of 1700kg/m³ and a nominal thickness of 4mm, it ensures exceptional durability and longevity.
This fibre cement slate meets the strength requirements of BS EN 492, exceeding an average bending moment greater than 50Nm/m (Class B). For a secure installation with moderate exposure, the Rivendale Slates require a minimum pitch of 22.5° with a 100mm lap and 20° with a 110mm lap, while for severe exposure, they will require a minimum pitch of 25° with a 100mm lap and 22.5° with a 110mm lap. A maximum pitch of 90° is recommended.
With a 100mm lap, you will need 4.00 metres of battens per square metre, while with a 110mm lap, you will need 4.08 metres of battens per square metre. For rafters/supports not exceeding 450mm centres, 38mm x 25mm batten sizes are advised, while for greater rafters/supports not surpassing 600mm centres, 50mm x 25mm sized battens are recommended. Slate nails (Copper to BS1202-2) measuring 30mm x 2.65mm and copper disc rivets sized 19mm diameter x 2mm stem are necessary for installation.
