Find out moreWith a higher-density centre and certification to BES 6001, achieving a rating of "Very Good", this Gyproc SoundBloc comprises an aerated gypsum core firmly bonded to and encased in strong paper liners. It has been designed for use in British Gypsum partition and wall systems where greater levels of sound insulation are needed.
When fixing the boards, keep the decorative side on the exterior to obtain a skim plaster finish or joint treatment. Lightly butt the boards together and never force them into place. Install the fixings no closer than 10mm from bound edges and 13mm from cut edges. Position cut edges to internal angles where possible, eliminating paper burrs with fine sandpaper. Stagger vertical and horizontal board joints between layers by a minimum of 600mm. Place the boards at the centre line of framing where this supports board ends or edges.
When plastering, the blue face of this Gyproc SoundBloc can be plastered with either Thistle MultiFinish or Thistle Board Finish. There should be a minimal delay between the completion of the lining and the commencement of plastering. The Gyproc jointing materials create a robust joint reinforcement and a crack-resistant, continuous smooth surface ready for priming and final decoration. Several jointing specifications are available to suit the site preference, method of application and board type. After the joint treatment has dried, decoration and any decorator's preparation should follow as soon as possible.
This Gyproc SoundBloc can be cut by scoring with a sharp knife and snapping it over a straight edge or using a plasterboard saw. Holes for sockets or switch boxes should be cut out prior to the boards being fixed using a sharp knife or utility saw.
