Find out moreThis felt roof trim AF1 External Angle made from aluminium is 200mm x 200mm, 45mm face and a 60mm leg. This specially designed profile from Nutrim allows the secure fixing of felt or asphalt, which removes the risk of voids, water penetration and capillary action. This would make a sturdy choice for any roofing project.
Nutrim should be fixed using cadmium or galvanised nails or screws with no more than 300mm(12'') centres and making sure the ends of each length are firmly secured. A minimum of 8 fixings per length is recommended, with a gap of 3mm between each length, which allows for expansion.
When used with mastic asphalt, you can fix the trim in position before laying the asphalt. On timber kerbs, the sheathing felt and expanded metal lathing should be fixed to the inside edge of the fixing arm. On concrete roofs, the sheathing felt is stopped at the bottom of the kerb. The mastic asphalt skirtings are then laid with the top edge turned into the protective hood of the aluminium trim.
When working with built-up felt roofing projects, you should dress the first layer of felt over the kerb and the trim fixed into position. The top layer of felt is laid similarly over the trim, and the top edge is turned into the hood, thus eliminating the outside edge of the top layer of felt lifting.
