What is Celotex PIR insulation board and how is it made?
PIR stands for polyisocyanurate, which is a type of foam made via a chemical reaction. The process involves a gas being trapped, which rather than still air, means that PIR insulation boards have low thermal conductivity. This makes them excellent in maintaining indoor temperatures and preventing overheating in summer and freezing in winter. Once they are cured, they are cut to the varying sizes and thicknesses available to order.
What applications can I use Celotex insulation board on?
Being made of a plastic-based foam means these PIR boards are incredibly lightweight and easy to install. It is most commonly used for cavity walls, but can also be used in flooring when several Celotex boards are staggered. Celotex insulation boards can also be used in multiple different ways in both pitched roofs and flat roofing projects.
What are R-Values?
The R-value of a PIR insulation board is an indicator of how it resists heat transfer from one side of it to the other. The higher the R-value, the better the insulation board is at resisting heat transfer, and therefore better insulation.
