Ceiling Tiles & Grids
Ceiling tiles are primarily used in commercial buildings such as offices, schools and hospitals to create a more clean and aesthetically pleasing finish to a room.
What is the function of ceiling tiles?
They are ideal if you want to cover unsightly components such as pipework and wiring, or conceal an existing industrial ceiling. Due to their organised grid system, they also make access to these utilities much easier when it comes to maintenance work and safety checks.
Ceiling tiles also improve thermal insulation and acoustics by absorbing sound. This is essential in structures for work and educational purposes as they provide much needed privacy, and save on heating and air conditioning costs, improving energy efficiency.
What are the two types of ceiling tiles?
Ceiling tiles are available in both standard and suspended options.
Standard Ceiling Tiles
Standard ceiling tiles are typically glued to an existing ceiling, where a grid system is not required, but a sturdy, even surface is. These are a much more permanent solution than suspended ceiling tiles and are often thicker and more robust.
Suspended Ceiling Tiles
Suspended ceiling tiles operate by installing a grid system below the actual ceiling and are slotted in. This is known as a drop ceiling, where pipes, wires, and even HVAC systems can be concealed but also easily accessed when needed. Here at Roofing Superstore, we have a range of products to enable you to install a complete suspended ceiling grid, with frames and gridwork kits to joins and ceiling tiles. Our range is stocked by leading brands like Armstrong.
